After waking up extremely late this morning and just all together having an off day... I returned home from a rushed and exhausting afternoon only to receive a text message from my friend Kristina breaking the news to me... Dylan Rieder, Professional Skateboarder and Model had passed away.
I never knew Dylan personally however I always looked up to him... Dylan has always been a huge influence on my skateboarding as well as personal style. For those of you who may be reading this who actually know me, Skateboarding is my blood... along side painting and photography I credit skateboarding for keeping me relatively sane as well as getting me through high school. Going on 12 years of skateboarding I always felt like an outsider even amongst friends... I always looked up to a few pros however there was never one I felt I could fully relate to... until I discovered Dylan Rieder. His style and approach to skateboarding was something refreshing and the flow of his skateboarding was always what I hoped mine would be... Needless to say he influenced me heavily. To top that off he also made his way into the fashion industry and if there are two major things in my life I loved... it is fashion and skateboarding.
I found my self watching his videos daily and listening to him talk about skateboarding and where it was heading and what it used to be compared to what it is now... I can honestly say that our views seemed to be very similar. I credit Dylan for being one of my biggest inspirations on and off the board, From his flowing surfy yet packed with power style of skateboarding to his taste in fashion music and art. I never thought I could relate so much to a person I will never know.... I thank you Dylan Rieder for all of the inspiration you gave me over the years.
Rest In Peace....
